Still Life
on paper

Illustration, acrylic paint on paper <2022>

During 2022, I did a constant exercise of still lifes, in an attempt to connect with my creativity, expand my perception of shapes, light, materials, as well as my ability to abstract these in simple form and color.

This exercise has given me a newfound sensibility to the things around me, beyond the visual. The constant repetition has had a meditative role. I find that paying attention to an object opens up the possibility of empathy and connection. It creates unexpected associations to other aspects of one’s mind and experience, and it flows as inspiration into many other projects.

After many digital still lifes, I finally found enough patience to learn how to draw with acrylic paint. It's still a work in progress, but I like it a lot and I plan on pursuing this.
